UK Sustainability Disclosure Requirements – SDR

The FCA has recently introduced a package of measures to help consumers navigate the market for sustainable investment products. These measures seek to improve transparency for consumers by providing accessible information in relation to sustainable investment products. SDR currently only applies to UK investment products offered to retail investors. Sustainable investment labels help investors find products that have a specific sustainability goal. Investment products offered by the First Sentier Investors Group may or may not have a UK sustainable investment label. Further information can be found in the SDR Client Facing Disclosures. 

The FCA requires an assessment of value to be completed for all UK UCITS funds. This allows investors to consider whether a UK UCITS fund provides appropriate value to investors for the fees that it charges.

About Key Investor Information Documents (KIIDs)

A KIID is a two-page document that sets out the essential characteristics of a fund necessary for an investor to understand the nature and the risks of the fund being offered prior to investment. There are different share classes available for each fund and KIIDs are produced for each share class. The Supplementary Information Document (SID) provides further details on the funds and should also be read together with the KIID.

Soft/ Temporary closure of funds, and unlaunched funds. 

Soft/ temporary closure of a fund to new investors is a way of discouraging investors, or potential investors, from investing in a fund. We would soft close a fund because we believe that additional investment in the fund will compromise the quality of the companies that we are able to invest your money in, so it is a way of protecting our existing investors.  

For some of the sub-funds of First Sentier Investors ICVC (the “OEIC”), soft closure is done by imposing an initial charge of 4% on new investments (excluding regular savings plan investors). For some of the sub-funds of First Sentier Investors Global Umbrella Fund PLC (the “VCC”) this is done by the Directors providing instructions to the Administrator and Registrar not to accept new subscriptions (excluding regular savings plan investors).Find out more information below on soft/ temporary closure, and of unlaunched funds, including which First Sentier funds are impacted.

First Sentier Investors ICVC - dealing days and market closures

In the normal course, the OEIC is open for buying and selling shares on every business day in England. However, there may be situations where investors may not buy or sell their shares in the OEIC on a business day in England. This flexibility may be used in the interests of all shareholders, for instance, where a fund owns investments in a particular country and the stock exchanges in that country are closed for an extended local bank holiday period, it may be difficult for us to be able to sell investments to allow clients to redeem their shares in the fund.
