First Sentier Investors appoints third Independent Non-Executive Director

The Board of First Sentier Investors today announced the appointment of Susie Rippingall as a Non-Executive Director.

Following its transition in ownership last year, First Sentier Investors (currently known as First State Investments outside of Australia) operates as a standalone investment manager governed by a Board of Directors. Based in Hong Kong, Ms Rippingall will join two recently appointed Non-Executive Directors, Michelle Tredenick and Richard Wastcoat, bringing the total number of independent directors to three.

First Sentier Investors Chairman, Sunao Yokokawa, said: “We are pleased that Susie Rippingall will be joining as Non-Executive Director. Her extensive experience as both a Portfolio Manager and independent director make her ideally suited to the role.

“We know she will add significant value to the Board with her strong understanding of corporate governance best practice and unique insight into the Asian investment management sector, which is a core strategic market for us,” he added.

Ms Rippingall currently sits on the boards of several boards in the asset management sector, including Aberdeen New Dawn Investment Trust Limited, NTAsian Discovery Fund and NTAsian Emerging Leaders Fund. She is an Associate Member at UK Society of Investment Professionals.

In her past career Ms. Rippingall occupied the position of Portfolio Manager at The Scottish Oriental Smaller Cos. Trust Plc, Senior Portfolio Manager at First State Investments (Hong Kong) Ltd. and Portfolio Manager at First State Investment Management (UK) Ltd.

The appointment is effective 3 August 2020.
