First Sentier Investors appoints Head of Distribution in Japan

Friday, 29 April 2022: Leading global investment manager, First Sentier Investors (FSI), today announced the appointment of Hideki Suruga to the role of Head of Distribution, Japan and Representative Director for First Sentier Investors (Japan) Limited, effective 6 May 2022.

Mr Suruga will be based in the Tokyo office, and he will oversee the distribution efforts in the country, including building the firm’s client base and increasing engagement and collaboration opportunities with its shareholder Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation, Inc (The Trust Bank).

Prior to FSI, Mr Suruga worked at Mitsubishi UFJ Kokusai Asset Management (MUKAM) as Managing Executive Officer, and Head of Products. Mr Suruga has spent most of his career in domestic and global capital markets as well as working at the investment banking business with roles at the former Bank of Tokyo (currently MUFG Bank), the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd and Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Group.

FSI Global Head of Distribution, Harry Moore, welcomed Mr Suruga to the team. “Over the past few years, we have been heavily focused on developing our client base in Japan. Hideki will play an important role in supporting this growth.
