Asian Fixed Income team

Nigel Foo is the Head of Asian Fixed Income at First Sentier Investors.

In his role, Nigel is responsible for formulating investment strategies across both Global and Asian fixed income. He is also the lead portfolio manager for flagship strategies in Asian Quality Bond and Asian Strategic Bond.

Prior to joining First Sentier Investors in 2010, Nigel spent six years with State Street Global Advisors as a fixed income portfolio manager where he managed one of the largest Asian local currency bond funds in the region, amongst other global fixed income mandates.

Since the start of his career, Nigel has developed strong research and risk management skills during his stints with several major investment banks including JP Morgan and Credit Suisse.

Nigel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a Major in Finance from the National University of Singapore. He is also a CFA charterholder.

Fiona Kwok is a Portfolio Manager for the Asian Fixed Income team at First Sentier Investors.

Fiona joined First Sentier Investors in July 2021 and is responsible for formulating investment strategies and analysing Asian portfolios, with a focus on Asian Credit and Hong Kong Dollar bonds.

Fiona previously spent five years in Goldman Sachs as a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager in its Asset Management business, specialising in global investment grade bond portfolio investment. Before that, she served as Credit Analyst at Moody’s Investors Services for four years, covering primarily credit ratings of high yield and investment grade issuers in Greater China. Fiona began her career as Auditor in Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Hong Kong.

Fiona holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a Major in Finance from the University of Hong Kong. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Jin Hur is a Credit Analyst for the Asian Fixed Income team at First Sentier Investors.

In his role, Jin is responsible for the in-depth credit research analysis of Asian credits, with a focus on financial institutions.

Prior to joining First Sentier Investors in February 2018, Jin worked at ANZ Hong Kong as an Associate Director in Financial Institutions Group Research & Analysis covering India, Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Hong Kong. He was previously an analyst at Fitch Ratings Hong Kong's Financial Institutions Group covering Hong Kong, Macau, Korea and Mongolia. Before that, he was a senior consultant at Ernst & Young Sydney's Infrastructure Advisory team. Jin started his career with Ernst & Young Sydney's Assurance and Advisory Services focusing on technology, communications and entertainment sectors.

Jin is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and FRM charter holder. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney.

Emile is an Investment Specialist for the Asian Fixed Income team at First Sentier Investors.

In her role, Emile represents the Asian Fixed Income investment team among clients, consultants and prospects. She provides a technical link between investment, sales, product, responsible investment and marketing functions ensuring integrity and consistency of communications and institutional representation of investment processes and capabilities.

Prior to joining First Sentier Investors in April 2022, Emile worked at Western Asset Management as a Client Service Associate for five years, servicing institutional fixed income investors and supporting sales efforts in Asia ex-Japan. Emile began her career as a graduate analyst in Deutsche Bank, completing rotations over the course of a year in various transaction banking businesses such as cash management, trade finance and securities services.

Emile holds double degrees in Business (major in Finance) and Accounting from Singapore Management University. She is also a CFA Charterholder.

Jingfei Zhang, based in our Singapore office, is an Investment Analyst for the Asian Fixed Income team at First Sentier Investors.

Jingfei joined First Sentier Investors in July 2021 and is responsible for Macro coverage, with a focus on Asian Rates and Currencies, and assisting portfolio managers. Jingfei previously worked in the Multi-Asset Investment team at Great Eastern Life where he was involved in the Tactical Asset Allocation process for Macro Assets.

Jingfei holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a Major in Banking and Finance from Nanyang Technological University.

Carol Chang is a Credit Analyst for the Asian Fixed Income team at First Sentier Investors. In her role, Carol is responsible for credit research of Asian credits including both investment grade and high yield, with a focus on China.

Prior to joining First Sentier Investors in October 2022, Carol worked at GF Securities as a portfolio manager investing in China offshore credits. Before that, she spent three years in credit research at Barclays, with a focus on China investment grade bonds.

Carol holds a Master of Science (majoring in Financial Engineering) from National University of Singapore, and a Bachelor of Management (majoring in Accounting and Finance) from Nankai University in China. Carol is also a FRM and CFA charterholder.
