Mark Steinberg
Chief Executive Officer

Mark is the company’s Chief Executive Officer and is based in Sydney. 

Mark brings a strong background in acquisitions and wealth management to his role of CEO. He re-joined the company in October 2017 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in September 2018. He had previously been the Chief Financial Officer of CFSGAM from January 2008 – December 2012.

Prior to re-joining the business, Mr Steinberg was Group Chief Financial Officer and Group Chief Operating Officer of Cover-More Group Limited, an Australian Securities Exchange listed company, where he oversaw several acquisitions before Cover-More was acquired in April 2017.

Prior to his time at Cover-More, Mr Steinberg was the Chief Financial Officer at Colonial First State and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Advice business. He also previously worked for Macquarie Bank, where he was a Divisional Director, and Vodafone, where he was Chief Financial Officer of the Australian and New Zealand businesses and Finance Director of the Japanese business.

Mr Steinberg is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand and a Senior Fellow of FINSIA.

Yoshiki Ueno
Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Yoshiki Ueno was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in March 2022. He has been working for First Sentier Investors since August 2019, and was appointed Head of US Governance in September 2021. As part of his role, he worked closely with Managing Director, Americas, Bachar Beaini, as he managed the US consultation and reporting process with FSI’s US parent companies - MUFG Americas and MUFG Fund Services (USA). In 2022, Mr. Ueno was appointed to the Steering Committee of the First Sentier MUFG Sustainable Investment Institute.

Prior to his time at FSI, Mr. Ueno spent over 20 years at FSI’s shareholder Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation in a variety roles including corporate finance, strategy planning for asset management and investor services business, and project management office of integration projects.

Mr. Ueno has a MBA from the International Corporate Strategy, Hitotsubashi University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Waseda University.

David Allen
Global Head of Investment Management

David Allen was appointed to the role of Global Head of Investment Management in November 2021. More recently, in 2022, David assumed responsibility for both the Product and Responsible Investment businesses at FSI.

David has over 20 years’ global asset management experience, where he specialised in building investment businesses and leading investment teams.

Prior to First Sentier Investors. David spent five years at AMP Capital as Global CIO, Equities and previously held senior investment leadership roles at Sarasin & Partners, Fidelity International, and Pioneer Investments. In these roles he has led teams across a wide range of capabilities, including equities, fixed income, multi-asset, ESG, dealing, risk management and operations. 

David holds a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London, and spent the early part of his career in the oil and gas industry.

Chief Risk Officer

Jane was appointed to Chief Risk Officer in January 2023. She is responsible for the organisation’s global risk management and compliance functions. Jane is a member of the executive leadership team.

Prior to joining FSI, Jane was previously at Aegon Asset Management where she was Global Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. She was responsible for leading a team of 85 across Europe, US and Asia, where she oversaw portfolio risk management, enterprise risk management and compliance. Other notable roles include ambassador for inclusion and diversity, and board directorships on its global, regional and joint venture companies.

Jane joined Aegon in August 2017, from her role as EMEA CRO and Global Head of Enterprise Risk at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Prior to this, Jane was at the Royal Bank of Scotland where she spent a number of years working across a variety of business and risk roles.

With a career spanning 30 years, Jane has had prior exposure to senior risk leadership roles across corporate and international banking, wealth management, transaction services as well as asset management.

Jane has been awarded a fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Scotland (FCIBS) and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB).

Suzanne Evans
Chief Financial & Strategy Officer

Suzanne Evans is responsible for the global Finance and Strategy function in her role as Chief Financial & Strategy Officer, which includes Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Corporate Strategy.  Suzanne is a member of the executive leadership team.

She has more than 25 years of experience across all aspects of capital markets including banking, life insurance, financial services and property. 

Prior to joining the company, Suzanne held roles in investor relations, Treasury, strategy and mergers & acquisitions for a number of publicly-listed entities.

She holds a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University and is a Non-Executive Director of Domestic Violence NSW Service Management, a not-for-profit providing services to women and children escaping family violence.

Chief Operating Officer

Amanda was appointed to Chief Operating Officer (COO) in February 2024. With over 20 years of experience in asset management and investment banking, Amanda joined FSI from Perpetual Limited (Perpetual) where she was COO since 2020.

Amanda is responsible for Information Technology, including Information Security, Operations, Project Office, Procurement & Supplier Governance, Business Continuity and Data, and is a member of the executive leadership team.

Prior to Perpetual, Amanda was at the asset manager DWS Group, majority-owned by Deutsche Bank, in Singapore where she was COO for Asia Pacific Distribution and Singapore COO.  She joined DWS from Deutsche Bank where she held a number of roles across Trading and Distribution. Prior to this, Amanda was the COO of the European Emerging Market Debt Trading desk with Credit Suisse in London. 

Amanda holds a BComm, is a member of the Chartered Accountant Australia & New Zealand and a GAICD.

Harry Moore
Global Head of Distribution, Marketing & Communications

Harry Moore was appointed Global Head of Distribution of First Sentier Investors in May 2020 to provide oversight of sales and to manage client relationships globally  In 2022, Harry’s role expanded to include responsibility for the Marketing & Communications function.

Harry is a member of the executive leadership team. Prior to this role, he was Managing Director, Australia, New Zealand & Japan with responsibility for business development and client service in these markets.

Before joining the firm in June 2010, Harry spent six years at Russell Investments as a consultant in the Institutions and Governments team, providing strategic investment advice and implementation to domestic and pan-Asian clients. Harry has also worked as a client advisor and analyst at UBS Wealth Management Australia and Johnson Taylor Potter.

Harry holds a BA Honours from the University of Melbourne.

Managing Director, Americas

Bachar Beaini, is Managing Director, Americas for First Sentier Investors and is based in New York. Bachar is a member of the executive leadership team, a director on the board of First Sentier Investors US and member of the global Risk & Compliance Committee.

As Managing Director, Americas, Bachar is responsible for strategy development and business management in the region, including overall responsibility for client and consultant relationships.

Bachar has worked with First Sentier Investors since 2007 in a variety of roles including Business Development, Strategy & Projects and Investments. His experience prior to joining the company includes Investment Development (M&A) and Structured Credit with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Bachar earned a BA (with Honors) from Monash University.

Managing Director, EMEA and Chief of Staff

Gary Cotton is Managing Director for First Sentier Investors in EMEA having joined in September 2020. From October 2022 to January 2024, Gary assumed the role of acting COO globally. In February 2024, Gary was appointed Chief of Staff.

Gary sits on the board of directors of each of First Sentier Investors’ main operating entities in the UK and Ireland and is a member of the executive leadership team.

Prior to joining First Sentier Investors, Gary was Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Executive team at M&G Limited.  During his 20 years at M&G, he held a number of senior management positions and was a director of a number of regulated entities including M&G Securities (the ACD) and was also a Trustee of the M&G defined benefit pension scheme.  Gary commenced his career at Sedgwick Noble Lowndes as an Investment Consultant.

Gary holds a BA (Hons) from Middlesex University. He is a Certified Investment Fund Director.

Managing Director and Head of Distribution, Asia Pacific (APAC)

Lauren Prendiville is the Managing Director and Head of Distribution, Asia Pacific (APAC) for First Sentier Investors ('FSI').

In her role, Lauren is responsible for managing the business in APAC (inclusive of Australia and New Zealand), overseeing the business development and the day-to-day functional operations in the region. Lauren is a member of the executive leadership team and a director on a number of company subsidiary boards.

Lauren has over 20 years of asset management experience. Prior to joining FSI, Lauren was the Executive Director, Institutional Business Development with Goldman Sachs Asset Management based in London and Singapore.

Previously, Lauren was with Morgan Stanley Investment Management and Investec Asset Management, working across multiple client segments including pension funds, central banks, sovereign wealth funds, endowments and private clients. Lauren began her career in South Africa and after spending 10 years in London, she transferred to Singapore in 2009.

Lauren holds an Investment Management Certificate and a Certificate in Corporate Governance from INSEAD.

Managing Partner, Global Head of Igneo Infrastructure Partners

Niall Mills is the Managing Partner and the Global Head of Igneo Infrastructure Partners (‘Igneo’) based in London. He is a member of the Global and European Investment Committees and a Board Member of a number of the Portfolio Companies.

Niall has had a 35 year long career in the Infrastructure sector as an Engineer, Project Manager and Investment Manager. He joined FSI in 2008 as a founding member of the European Infrastructure Business and became Managing Partner of the global infrastructure business in 2020 which subsequently rebranded to Igneo Infrastructure Partners in 2022.

With Igneo as the independently branded direct infrastructure business of First Sentier Investors, Niall was invited to join the executive leadership team of FSI in October 2022.

Managing Partner, Stewart Investors

Grigor Milne is Managing Partner of Stewart Investors. Grigor was appointed as a Managing Partner in October 2018. He has been a member of the Stewart Investors’ Board since June 2017. Grigor is a member of the executive leadership team.

Grigor joined Stewart Investors in January 2015. He has broad experience as a lawyer in both private practice and industry, including in a family office investment business.

Previously, Grigor was a partner in the Corporate Group of Dundas & Wilson and CMS Cameron McKenna, and before that a director of Murray Capital, a Scottish-based investment business.

Grigor is a practising solicitor with an honours degree in law from Edinburgh University.

Managing Partner, FSSA Investment Managers

Michael Stapleton is a Managing Partner of FSSA Investment Managers, part of First Sentier Investors.

Michael has more than 23 years of experience in the investments industry. He joined FSSA Investment Managers in 2015 after being part of First Sentier’s global business for more than 19 years. Michael is based in Hong Kong and is responsible for the business management of the FSSA Investment Managers team.

After joining First Sentier Investors (formerly known as Colonial First State Global Asset Management) in 1998, Michael worked in the institutional business in Australia before moving to the UK to become Head of Institutional Business Development. He subsequently moved to Hong Kong in 2009 and has been based in Asia since then.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University. He is also a CFA charterholder.
