It appears you are curious as well
A new study has found that on average people could be ingesting approximately 5 grams of plastic every week, which is the equivalent weight of a credit card.
The analysis No Plastic in Nature: Assessing Plastic Ingestion from Nature to People prepared by Dalberg, based on a study commissioned by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and carried out by University of Newcastle, Australia, suggests people are consuming about 2000 tiny pieces of plastic every week.
That’s approximately 21 grams a month, just over 250 grams a year.
At First Sentier Investors curiosity is at the heart of what we do. It shapes our investment philosophy and our active approach to investment management.
It also helps us be more aware. We have always considered the long-term environmental and social impact of the companies in which we invest and this thinking continues to underpin our investment choices today.
Recently, the First Sentier Investors MUFG Sustainable Investment Institute has explored the impact of plastic pollution as a major environmental concern. The research identifies the various sources and pathways that micro plastics get into the environment and worryingly into humans and animals.
